Thrift Shopping
Thrift shopping is like hunting for treasure. A keen eye and good luck are essential in finding the best bargain. It also holds true to the saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Once you find that treasure, it will often (if not always) be one-of-a-kind.
My good friend, Lia, and I spontaneously went thrift shopping last Saturday. We scoured the various thrift shops (more commonly known in Filipino as “ukay-ukay” or “UK”) along Anonas and Katipunan. We found a lot of interesting clothes, but I got a hold of one.
I found this vintage Tomommi office coat for Php200 ($4.65) in one of the thrift stores along Anonas. I fell in love with the detail. The fabric, buttons, trimmings and shoulder pads clearly spell out eighties.

Personally, I prefer bargain hunting more than shopping in malls and other mainstream brands. I love how it makes shopping more cost-efficient and enjoyable. You don’t have to buy expensive and/or branded apparel to look nice. What’s more important is how you carry yourself.
